• Dr. Denise Goodman

  Pediatric dentist Denise Goodman, DMD has been practicing in the Cumberland, RI area at William Chan & Associates for over 25 years. While studying at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Goodman discovered her passion for treating children and went on to attain her specialty degree in pediatric dentistry at Harbor—UCLA Medical Center. Whether it is a patient’s first visit or there’s an established relationship, Dr. Goodman is dedicated to providing a comfortable, compassionate, and educational experience for her young patients and their parents alike. Experienced in a wide range of advanced preventive and restorative dental treatments from cleanings and gum treatments to fillings and oral check-ups, she is also committed to helping children understand the importance of healthy habits and proper dental care. In addition to working with a mobile dental association that services the US National Guard, Dr. Goodman has volunteered with the nonprofit dental organization Project Stretch, which treats underserved children in Mexico and Venezuela. She is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Rhode Island Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

  Dr. Ben Chan

  As a board certified orthodontist at William Chan & Associates, Dr. Ben Chan offers a variety of orthodontic treatment options designed to address bite misalignment (malocclusion), teeth crowding, and gaps. He is experienced in treating patients of all ages and is extensively trained in child and early phase as well as secondary and adult orthodontia, including innovative teeth-straightening methods such as Invisalign®. Dr. Ben trained at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He then went on to complete a residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, earning himself a master’s degree and a certificate in orthodontics. Dr. Ben is proud to work alongside his father, Dr. William Chan, to help create beautiful smiles utilizing the most advanced technology available. He is a proud Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of a number of prestigious dental organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontics, the Northeast Society of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Ben’s primary focus is helping to ensure all of his patients are properly cared for and well-informed throughout the entirety of their treatment. Outside of the practice, Dr. Ben is a clinical faculty member at Tufts, mentoring residents and collaborating in dental pulp stem cell research.

• Dr. Nick Lavoie

  Nick Lavoie, DMD first obtained his bachelor’s degree in nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse before discovering his passion for helping young patients maintain healthy smiles from their very first dental eruption. He completed a post-baccalaureate program at Harvard University and transitioned to Stony Brook University, where he earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. After graduation, he earned an additional two Master of Arts degrees in the Art of Public Policy and Public Health. He then spent two years at Stony Brook University to attain his Pediatric Dentistry Certification. Dr. Lavoie’s enthusiasm for education is matched by his commitment to oral health and hygiene. At our Cumberland-area practice, he offers a comprehensive selection of general, preventive, and restorative treatments, focusing his efforts on giving kids a positive dental experience that encourages good oral habits for life.

  Dr. Jennifer Stevens

  Dr. Jennifer Stevens, also known as "Dr. Jenny," is a pediatric dentist who specializes in treating children of all ages, including those with special needs. Her interest in dentistry began at a young age, as her father is an oral surgeon. She prioritizes making her patients feel comfortable by tailoring her approach to their unique needs and making each appointment a fun experience. Dr. Jenny received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2016 and completed her pediatric residency program at the same institution in 2018, where she served as Chief Resident. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Jenny has taught pediatric residents and pre-doctoral students as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. She is dedicated to continuing her education to stay up-to-date with the latest pediatric dental treatments and techniques. Dr. Jenny is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and Georgia Dental Association. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her husband and Winston (their teacup Yorkie), playing tennis, and trying the latest restaurants in the area.
